Chad Sorenson is a lifelong outdoorsman with a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and exploring Alaska’s wild places. Originally from Montana, Chad has called Alaska home for over 40 years. Growing up surrounded by rugged mountains, dense forests, and abundant wildlife, he developed a profound respect for nature that continues to guide every hunt.

With more than two decades of hunting experience, Chad has pursued game across Alaska’s backcountry — from chasing moose in the interior to hunting muskox along the Bering Sea coast, and Sitka black-tailed deer dating back to the 1980s. Renowned for his local knowledge of Kodiak Island, ethical approach, and skill in the field, Chad is proud to support hunters who book with Kodiak Valiant Hunts.

When he’s not in the field, Chad spends his time scouting new areas and maintaining his fleet of vessels. Guests can expect to meet up to three generations of Sorensons, all dedicated to helping visitors enjoy a safe, comfortable, and successful Kodiak Island hunting experience.

The F/V Valiant is a legendary Alaskan crabber repurposed for hunting transport during the winter months. Built to withstand Alaska’s harsh sea conditions, it provides a safe, stable, and comfortable ride even in challenging weather.
