Sitka black-tailed Deer Hunts on Kodiak Island
Experience a self-guided Sitka black-tailed deer hunt on Kodiak Island, with the comfort and stability of a warm floating base and the freedom to hunt on your own terms.
Sitka Black-tailed Deer on Kodiak Island
Sitka black-tailed deer were introduced to Kodiak Island in the early 1920s and have thrived ever since. The island’s rugged terrain, mild coastal climate, and lack of wolves have created ideal conditions for strong deer populations that rebound quickly even after harsh winters. While Sitka black-tails are smaller than some Lower 48 deer species, many hunters value them for their hardiness, beauty, and exceptional table fare. Kodiak Island has earned a reputation as one of Alaska’s most rewarding destinations for black-tailed deer hunting.
